Meet the 2008 Youth of the Year Finalists

BGCSF is proud to present the five finalists in our annual Citywide Youth of the Year competition. Pictured (from left to right) are Raquel (Columbia Park Clubhouse), Yaroslav (Tenderloin Clubhouse), Ebony (Excelsior Clubhouse), Tyrone (Ernest Ingold Clubhouse), and Patrice (Visitacion Valley Clubhouse).

Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. The title recognizes outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community and to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, as well as triumphs over personal challenges.

This program was founded 60 years ago by the Reader’s Digest Foundation. The winner of the BGCSF Youth of the Year competition moves on to compete against other well-accomplished youth in the Northern California Regional competition, with a chance to be recognized as the state, regional, and nationwide Youth of the Year. The selection process includes public speaking, one-on-one interviews, and measuring each candidate's service to their Clubhouse, community and academic achievement.
