Boys Night Out & Girls Day
Make a difference, one kid at a time! Each year at Boys Night Out & Girls Day, we match volunteers with our Club Members for two, one-day buddy events filled with lighthearted competition, games, food and prizes. These truly special events have become much-anticipated favorites for our Club Members. It's an opportunity for our Club Members to interact with a caring, responsible adult from their own community or beyond - someone who just might inspire them to think about their future and to dream big.
BGCSF WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE VOLUNTEERS
WHO MADE THIS YEAR'S BNO/GD EVENTS GREAT!!

About the FRIENDS OF BGCSF
The Friends of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco is a group of young professionals who support Boys & Girls Clubs through volunteerism and outreach. Together, we organize unique social and volunteer events throughout the year.
These events provide an opportunity for volunteers to interact with the young members of BGCSFs nine Clubhouses throughout the city, while raising awareness of the programs and services of Boys & Girls Clubs amongst our peers.
We recognize that, even though we lead full, over-scheduled lives, we want to find ways to give back to the community, and to connect with other like-minded peers over a cause that makes life in San Francisco a better place for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Interacting with BGCSF's kids
Boys & Girls Clubs opens their Clubhouse doors after school every weekday, which unfortunately doesnt work well for most of our work schedules. To that end, The Friends worked with the staff to come up with a way where we could interact with the kids in a meaningful way, several times a year.
The Friends group organizes several special "pizza nights" throughout the year that celebrate special occasions with the kids. We recruit volunteers to work on crafts projects, play games, and generally pal around with the Club Members. Its a treat for the kids to get some extra attention and always a very rewarding experience for the volunteers to sit, talk and play with these kids.
Our annual signature event is Boys Night Out & Girls Day -- in which we recruit over 200 friends & colleagues to be a "Big Buddy" for one-day events filled with lighthearted competition, games, food and prizes. It's an opportunity for Club Members to interact with a caring, responsible adult from their own community or beyond - someone who just might inspire them to think about the future and to dream big!

Book Drives, Happy Hours, Camp Mendocino Weekends, and More...
The Friends group organizes several events during the year that indirectly benefit the kids by increasing the ranks of volunteers and supporters. Some past events have included hosted happy hours, book drives and toy drives.
One popular endeavor is our Camp Mendocino Fix-It Weekend. BGCSF runs a spectacular summer camp for San Francisco and other region Boys & Girls Clubs Members in the redwood forests of Mendocino County. Over a spring weekend, we tackle a small repair job; helping the Camp staff prepare for the summer influx of kids while having a whole lot of fun!
